Wolfsberg in the Schwarzautal
Wolfsberg in the Schwarzautal was a market town in Styria . As part of the municipal structural reform in Styria , it was merged with the municipalities of Breitenfeld am Tannenriegel , Hainsdorf in the Schwarzautal , Mitterlabill and Schwarzau in the Schwarzautal on January 1, 2015 . The new municipality bears the name Schwarzautal . The basis for this was a joint application from these communities.

Wolfsberg im Schwarzautal is located in the Leibnitz district in the Austrian state of Styria .

history
It has been known since around 1220 that Wolfsberg and the neighboring towns were under the rule of the Styrian duke. They stayed that way until the 17th century. Thereafter, until the peasants' liberation in 1848, the landlord was the lordship of Straß in the lower Murtal valley. The local community as an autonomous body was established in 1850. After the annexation of Austria in 1938, the community came to the Reichsgau Steiermark, 1945 to 1955 it was part of the British zone of occupation in Austria. In 1969 a part of the cadastral community Marchtring was attached to the community.

Municipal council
The municipal council was also dissolved on December 31, 2014 when it was merged to form the Schwarzautal municipality. Until then, based on the result of the 2010 municipal council election, it was composed as follows:

The coat of arms, awarded in 1970, shows "in a shield split from silver to green at the front an upright black wolf with a chipped red tongue and red eyes, at the back a golden three-mountain topped by a golden bishop's cap."
