Johann Pock (theologian)

Johann Ignaz Pock (born May 15, 1965 in Marchtring , Styria ) is an Austrian theologian and from 2007 professor for pastoral theology at the University of Bonn , since 2010 professor for pastoral theology and kerygmatics at the Catholic Theological Faculty of the University of Vienna .

Life

Pock grew up in Wolfsberg in Styria. He studied theology at the University of Graz and obtained his licentiate in Biblical Studies at the Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome in 1990 . In 1993 he was ordained a priest in Graz.

From 1992 to 2007 Pock was active in various pastoral functions in the diocese of Graz-Seckau . In addition, he was an assistant at the Institute for Pastoral Theology and Pastoral Psychology in Graz from 1996 to 2007. In 2005 he completed his habilitation in pastoral theology and homiletics at the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen .

From 2007 Pock was professor of pastoral theology at the Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn . Since 2010 he has held the chair for pastoral theology and kerygmatics at the Catholic Theological Faculty of the University of Vienna .

He is a founding member and member of the editorial board of the "Theologische Feuilletons" www.feinschwarz.net , an online magazine and internet portal, of which there are no printed editions; the portal was activated on October 1st, 2015. He has been chairman of the ecumenical study group for homiletics since 2016 .

Since October 2018 he has been Dean of the Catholic Theological Faculty of the University of Vienna .
