Ulrike Bechmann (born June 12, 1958 in Bamberg ) is a German Roman Catholic theologian .

Life

Bechmann studied Roman Catholic theology at the Otto Friedrich University in Bamberg and received his doctorate there in 1988 in the subject of the Old Testament. She completed her studies in Islamic Studies / Arabic Studies with an MA. Your habilitation thesis Abraham - incantation or source of clarification, accepted by the University of Bayreuth ? Biblical theological and religious studies research on the Abraham paradigm in interreligious dialogue was awarded the 2006 Augsburg Science Prize for Intercultural Studies . Bechmann has been Professor of Religious Studies at the Catholic Theological Faculty of the University of Graz since 2006 . She is a signatory of the memorandum “ Church 2011: A Necessary Awakening ”. From 1989 to 1999 she was the managing director of the German World Prayer Day Committee.
