The Augsburg Science Prize for Intercultural Studies has been awarded since 1998 for scientific work on the subject of intercultural coexistence by the city of Augsburg , the University of Augsburg and the association “Forum Intercultural Living and Learning”. Since 2007 it has been divided into a main award and a sponsorship award, each endowed with 5000 euros and 1500 euros. The main prize is awarded for post-doctoral theses and dissertations, the sponsorship prize for master's, diploma and other qualification theses.

The objective of the award when it was founded was to:

A jury of ten people will decide on the award. The chairman of the jury is the doctor Eckhard Nagel .

The association "Forum Intercultural Living and Learning (FILL)" is an "amalgamation of representatives from the fields of culture, politics, administration and economy with foreign associations and with representatives of social, intercultural and denominational practice in Augsburg".
