Pistorf (pronounced "Pistorf" or in the dialect "Bischdorf") was a municipality with 1402 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2014) in the Leibnitz district in the Austrian state of Styria . As part of the Styrian community structural reform , it was merged with the neighboring community of Gleinstätten from 2015 .

The municipal area comprised four localities (population in brackets as of January 1, 2020):

history
A document issued in Leibnitz in 1168 mentions the name "Piscouistorf" for the first time. The local communities as autonomous corporations were established in 1850. In 1882 the cadastral communities Distelhof, Dornach, Pistorf, Maierhof and Sausal separated from the local community Gleinstätten and merged to form the new local community Pistorf. After the annexation of Austria in 1938, the community became part of the Reichsgau Steiermark, from 1945 to 1955 it was part of the British zone of occupation in Austria.

By resolution of March 23, 1992, the Styrian state government granted the municipality of Pistorf the right to use our municipal coat of arms with effect from May 1, 1992.
