Parish partnership
An official partnership has existed between St. Nikolai im Sausal and the Italian municipality of Loro Piceno ( Macerata Province ) since August 23, 1986. This goes back to the Second World War , when the Italian soldier Rinaldo Temmel settled in St. Nikolai im Sausal. Temmel never lost contact with his homeland and initiated this partnership with the mayors at the time, Erwin Aistleitner and Mario Verdicchio, which is based on a lively exchange of sport, culture, languages and friendship. On the occasion of the 20th anniversary, a sculpture by local artist Karin Westreicher was set up in the park.
coat of arms
The municipality's coat of arms was awarded on November 13, 1961 by the Styrian state government with effect from December 1, 1961.
- “In the shield split by red and silver, on the right, three gold butting balls (1: 2). In the left field, split by silver and blue, two diamonds with different colors. "
The right side shows three golden, butting balls in a red field, which indicate the patron of the community, Saint Nicholas . The balls symbolize his legendary breads, which are represented as balls in heraldic art. The split left side shows a rhombus in each of the two fields, which establishes the reference to the Admont Monastery , since in an Admont document from 1160 the church of St. Nikolai zu Admont is mentioned as belonging to. However, at the suggestion of the Federal Chancellery, these are not shown in the original red and silver, but in blue and silver colors.
