Gabersdorf is a municipality with 1237 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) in the judicial district or district of Leibnitz in Styria .

geography

Geographical location

The municipality of Gabersdorf is located east of Leibnitz between the foothills of the Eastern Styrian hill country and the Mur in the Leibnitz district in the Austrian state of Styria . The canalised Stiefing flows into the Mur to the west of the main town .

Incorporations

On January 1, 1962, the municipalities of Landscha an der Mur and Neudorf an der Mur were merged with Gabersdorf.

history

The place is first mentioned in 1294 as Gebrechtsdorf . The local community as an autonomous body was established in 1850. After the annexation of Austria in 1938, the community came to the Reichsgau Steiermark, 1945 to 1955 it was part of the British zone of occupation in Austria. By amalgamation of the municipalities in 1962 the municipalities Gabersdorf, Neudorf / Mur and Landscha / Mur became the large municipality of Gabersdorf.

  • Pilgrimage Church Gabersdorf: A baroque church building, which was built around 1690 and consecrated to St. Leonhard in 1718 . The church was renovated in 1787, 1894, 1908, 1928, 1950 and 1994.

“A shield split by silver and black. In the right field, three black balls appear one above the other. The left half of the shield is crossed in the middle by a narrow, silver rafter. "
