Murfeld
Until the end of 2019, the municipality of Murfeld was the most south-westerly municipality in the judicial district of Feldbach or the district of Southeast Styria and had 1671 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2019). At the end of 2019, the community was dissolved and divided between the two communities Sankt Veit in southern Styria and Straß in Styria in the Leibnitz district.
geography
The former rural community Murfeld located in the south of the Eastern Styrian hill country at the mouth of Schwarzau in the Mur and is adjacent to the neighboring country of Slovenia . The area is about 20 km west of Bad Radkersburg and about 40 km south of the provincial capital Graz and has no great differences in altitude in the wide Mur valley (240 to 250 meters above sea level).
Community structure
The municipal area covered 24.22 km² and was divided into five localities and cadastral communities of the same name (population: as of January 1, 2020); Area: As of December 31, 2018:

- Weitersfeld an der Mur (555 Ew .; 735.57 ha)
There is no place called Murfeld.

history
The municipality of Murfeld was created on January 1, 1969 from the union of the previously independent municipalities of Lichendorf, Oberschwarza, Seibersdorf bei Sankt Veit, Unterschwarza and Weitersfeld an der Mur.
Parish consolidation
As early as 2015, the Murfeld municipal council passed a unanimous decision in principle that by 2020 the cadastral community of Seibersdorf near St. Veit with the northern neighboring community of St. Veit in southern Styria and the cadastral communities of Lichendorf, Oberschwarza, Unterschwarza and Weitersfeld an der Mur the neighboring municipality of Straß in Styria to the west are to be merged and thus to move from the district of Southeast Styria to the Leibnitz district . There are also unanimous resolutions in the communities of St. Veit in southern Styria and Straß in Styria to support this merger.
On March 11, 2018, in a referendum with 73% voter turnout, 68% of the Murfelders were in favor of “Murfeld should voluntarily strive for a merger with a neighboring municipality (e.g. St. Veit or Strass-Spielfeld)”. The dissolution and division of the municipality was decided by the Styrian Landtag and announced in the State Law Gazette on May 22, 2019.

The former municipality is located on the southern Styrian border road B 69 between the Pyhrn motorway A 9 and Bad Radkersburg. The Gersdorf junction (exit 226) is on the western edge of the municipality.
The area has three stops on the Radkersburger train in the villages Schwarza, Lichendorf and Weitersfeld an der Mur, where the line of the S-Bahn Steiermark by pitch - Strasbourg wrong and Bad Radkersburg. The "stop request" was introduced at these three stops with the 2009/10 timetable change.
The Graz-Thalerhof airport is about 40 km away, the Maribor airport about 35 km away.
Fire brigades
The Voluntary Fire Brigade (FF) Oberschwarza looks after the cadastral communities of Oberschwarza and Seibersdorf. In cooperation with the fire department of Unterschwarza, a joint fire station was built and opened on June 10, 2007.
