The political district of Fürstenfeld was a political district of Austria in the east of Styria .

As part of the reorganization of the Styrian district authorities , the district was merged with the Hartberg district on January 1, 2013 to form the Hartberg-Fürstenfeld district .

The Fürstenfeld district had an area of around 264 km² and bordered the Styrian districts of Feldbach , Weiz and the former Hartberg district in the south, west and north and the Burgenland districts Jennersdorf and Güssing in the east . By December 31, 2012, around 23,000 residents were registered in the entire district. The administrative seat was in Fürstenfeld and the license plate was FF.

It was part of the Feldbach district until 1938 . As a result of the National Socialist administrative changes, the area of the Fürstenfeld judicial district was separated from the Feldbach district and merged with parts of the Burgenland districts of Güssing and Jennersdorf to form the Fürstenfeld district. As early as 1945, however, Burgenland was rebuilt and the Burgenland district parts were again ceded to Burgenland. As of October 1, 1945, the Fürstenfeld district was therefore only formed from the area of the Fürstenfeld judicial district.

Administrative division

The Fürstenfeld district was divided into 14 communities , including one town and two market communities.
