The judicial district Schönstein ( Slovene : Šoštanj ) was a judicial district in the federal state of Styria which was subordinate to the district court Schönstein . It comprised parts of the political district Windischgraz (Slovenji Gradec) and was added to the state of Yugoslavia in 1919 .

history

The judicial district of Schönstein was created by a proclamation made by the State Court Introductory Commission in 1849 and originally comprised the eight communities of Schönstein , Skalis , St. Egydi bei Schwarzenstein , St. Florian , St. Johann am Weinberge , St. Martin an der Pack , Toposchitz and Wöllan . In the course of the separation of the political and judicial administration from 1868, the judicial district of Schönstein, together with the judicial districts of Mahrenberg and Windischgraz, formed the district of Windischgraz .

The judicial district of Schönstein had a population of 12,893 present in 1890, with 12,344 people giving Slovene and 520 people German as the colloquial language. In 1910 14,546 people were expelled from the judicial district, of whom 13,174 spoke Slovene (90.6%) and 1,319 German (9.1%).

Due to the border regulations of the Treaty of Saint-Germain , which was concluded on September 10, 1919 , the judicial district of Schönstein was completely added to the Kingdom of Yugoslavia.
