Enkhjargal Dandarvaanchig ( Mongolian Дандарваанчигийн Энхжаргал , Dandarvaantschigiin Enchjargal ; * 1968 in Ulaanbaatar ) is a Mongolian musician. His stage name is EPI. He lives in Karlsruhe with his wife and daughter .

Life

Enkhjargal Dandarvaanchig grew up in Altanbulag, a small village near the Russian border. He studied at the Music Conservatory in Ulaanbaatar (1990–1992). His teacher was Professor G. Jamjan, the best known and best horse head violinist in Mongolia.

Even during his training EPI played his first horse head violin quintet on Mongolian television and toured with various state ensembles across the country to cultivate Mongolian folk music.

In 1993 he came to Germany for the first time with the group "Altain Orgil", where he also met Rüdiger Oppermann, among others . Since then he has played numerous concerts with him not only in Germany, but also in other European countries and the USA.

In addition to playing the horse head violin, EPI has mastered and taught Mongolian overtone and undertone singing .
