Rudolf Benda

Rudolf Benda (born April 11, 1899 in Charlottenburg near Berlin ; † August 26, 1973 in Berlin ) was a German engineer and politician ( CDU ).

After high school he studied electrical engineering and physics at the Technical University of Charlottenburg and the University of Berlin . He took part in the First World War as a lieutenant in the intelligence service. From 1921 to 1964 he worked at Siemens , most recently as a senior engineer.

He had been a member of the CDU since 1946 and was a member of the Berlin House of Representatives from 1963 to 1967 . He spoke English and French.

He was the son of Hans Benda (1867–1945), who was Ministerialrat in the Reichswehr Ministry from 1926–1933, and the nephew of the anatomist Carl Benda . Rudolf Benda and his wife Lilly, b. Krasting, were the parents of Ernst Benda , who later became President of the Federal Constitutional Court .
