Huth was the son of the Prussian major Johann Ernst (1832-1897) and his wife Emilie (1838-1921). First, he embarked on the family's traditional military career. In 1905 he married Elsa Bachstein (1878–1968), daughter of the railway entrepreneur Hermann Bachstein . After 13 years of service, he left the army as an officer and studied natural sciences from 1908 to 1912 , with a focus on biology . He graduated with the doctorate to Dr. phil. from.

In 1909 Huth met the French aviation pioneer Hubert Latham in Berlin . At Huth, the desire arose to produce aircraft in Germany. To this end, he founded the Albatros Flugzeugwerke at the Berlin-Johannisthal airfield . First he imported three French aircraft through his company in the winter of 1909/1910; One and two-seat Antoinette VII single-decker and a Farman III double-decker, which remained in his personal possession. He used these machines as training planes and as samples for license replicas in the Albatross factories. In order to do business with the German military administration , Huth loaned the Farman machine imported from France together with his chauffeur Simon Brunnhuber as a flight instructor for military pilot training at Döberitz airfield . The Farman machine was purchased by the army administration on December 18, 1910 during the training. It was the first German military aircraft under the army designation "B 1".

Later, Huth designed his own machines, sometimes together with designers such as Ernst Heinkel or Hellmuth Hirth . During the First World War , the aircraft of the Albatros-Flugzeugwerke found great sales and were highly valued for their quality and performance, especially the single-seat D-aircraft. Huth was active in the General Staff as an intelligence officer of the Supreme Army Command .

Huth was later chairman of the Reich Association of the German Aviation Industry .
