Ensemble confrontation

The Ensemble Konfrontation was an ensemble of the Halle Philharmonic . It was dedicated to new music .

The cast consisted of ten changing members, u. a. Ralf Mielke (flute), Nikolay Filipov (clarinet), Thomas Blumenthal (guitar) and Friedrich Franke (viola). The group was founded in 1979 by Hans Jürgen Wenzel and launched a series of concerts of the same name. From 1989 to 2004 Thomas Müller directed Konfrontation.

The ensemble worked with composers such as Thomas Buchholz , Wolfgang Stendel , Karl Ottomar Treibmann and Günter Neubert . Several world premieres and first performances were recorded. There were portrait concerts by Thomas Müller, Friedrich Schenker and Christfried Schmidt . They were in close contact with the Hallische Musiktage and members of the ensemble taught students from the Halle composer class . In 1995 they toured Spain.

Several CDs have been released, including chamber symphonies VI-IX by Thomas Buchholz in 1996 and chamber music by Gerd Domhardt in 1999 .
