Nikolay Filipov
Nikolay Filipov (born December 6, 1943 in Kawarna ) is a Bulgarian clarinetist . He lives in Halle (Saale) .
Life
Filipov studied piano and clarinet at the Varna Music School. From 1964 to 1968 he studied clarinet at the National Music Academy in Sofia . Until 1973 he was an assistant there and became a soloist with the Sofia Chamber Orchestra. In 1973 he became principal clarinetist in the Hallesches Philharmonie under Olaf Koch (from 1991 Philharmonic State Orchestra Halle).
He mainly interpreted works by Johann Stamitz , Ignaz Josef Pleyel , Darius Milhaud and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart as well as the quintets by Johannes Brahms and Carl Maria von Weber . He found his role model in the clarinetist Karl Leister .
Filopov also devoted himself to contemporary music and was a member of the Konfrontation ensemble . He premiered or premiered numerous compositions, such as by Helmut Lachenmann , Pierre Boulez and Béla Bartók .
