Ensemble Lentia Nova

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Ensemble Lentia Nova is a musical ensemble that was originally intended as a pure chamber music association . Remaining true to this line, the ensemble with its regular cast repeatedly completes programs in small cast. In the course of its history, however, the line-up expanded continuously. This is why Lentia Nova also plays literature for chamber orchestras and symphony orchestras under its director Michael Wahlmüller .

Name and goals

The ensemble takes its name from Latin (Lentia: Latin for the hometown of Linz ; nova: new). Behind this name is the profile of the ensemble, which the founder Michael Wahlmüller developed together with the other initiators more than five years ago: The ensemble is specifically dedicated to the performance of new works (primarily by Upper Austrian composers) and the promotion of young soloists. In addition, works from the classical-romantic repertoire are rehearsed and performed (e.g. symphonies by Franz Schubert, Mozart's Requiem).

The initiator, founder and permanent artistic director is Michael Wahlmüller. Co-founders were Alfred Wahlmüller, Claudia and Othmar Nagl, Andrea Wögerer and Karlheinz Heimberger

history

The Lentia Nova ensemble was founded in 2004. The occasion for the establishment of an ensemble that was to consist of a number of chamber music friends was a memorial concert for the Upper Austrian composer Augustinus Franz Kropfreiter, who had recently passed away . When it was founded, the ensemble played the Altdorf Passion of this composer, organist and Augustinian canon in the Altomonte Hall of St. Florian Monastery . More appearances soon followed:

  • World premiere of the cantata "The gentle law" by Michael Wahlmüller (donated year 2005)
  • Performances with Pergolesi's “Stabat mater” and WA Mozart's “Clarinet Quintet”
  • String orchestra concerts
  • Two performances of the Mozart Requiem
  • World premiere of the "Missa cum grano salis" by Michael Wahlmüller (state exhibition 2008 in Hallstatt)

Performance venues

The ensemble gives around twelve concerts a year. Within this series of concerts, organizers and venues have repeated themselves several times over the years. Some organizers are now permanent cooperation partners of Lentia Nova:

  • Series of events in the church and convent of the Elisabethinen Linz
  • Series of events in the church and convent of the Elisabethinen Vienna
  • Albertus Magnus concert series Vienna
  • Bad Zell cultural weeks
  • Pedagogical University of the Diocese of Linz
