Agenzia Nazionale per le Nuove Tecnologie, l'Energia e lo Sviluppo economico sostenibile
The Agenzia Nazionale per le Nuove Tecnologie, l'Energia e lo Sviluppo economico sostenibile - ENEA (German National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Development ) was founded in the 1960s by the Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche (short CNR , German National Research Council ) outsourced as an institution under public law .
The organization, based in Rome, operates in the energy, environment and technology sectors with the aim of promoting Italy's competitiveness and sustainable development. The main tasks are to promote and develop basic and applied research and technological innovation.
In 1999, ENEA was fundamentally reformed to give it greater autonomy so that it could e.g. B. can conclude so-called program agreements with the Ministry of the Interior, MIUR and the Ministry of the Environment. The development of renewable energies represents an important part of all research. ENEA manages a total of nine research centers, several laboratories and has set up an experimental facility in Monte Aquilone, in which photovoltaic energy in particular is researched.
