either ... or? is a quiz show moderated by Ben Blümel , where each question offers two possible answers. It was broadcast by ZDFneo on weekdays at 7:30 p.m. from October 9, 2017 to October 20, 2017 . The first season comprises 10 episodes and was produced by Gruppe 5 Filmproduktion GmbH.

Game flow

Two candidates compete against each other in a duel in five game rounds. In the first four rounds of the game, each consisting of five questions on a topic, both candidates answer the questions at the same time, whereby one of the two answer options must be selected within five seconds. A correct answer is rewarded with one point. In the fifth round of the game, which consists of a maximum of ten questions, only the answer of the faster candidate counts. If the answer is correct, he receives two points, if the answer is wrong his opponent.

The winner of the duel has the choice to play either a final round or another duel. If he wins the next duel, he can choose between these two options again. For every duel won, the winnings in the final round increase by € 1,000. However, if he loses the following duel, he gets nothing. In the final round, ten questions must be answered correctly within one minute so that the prize money is distributed.

Since the duels are played continuously, a duel can extend over two programs. The last duel in the tenth episode consisted of only four game rounds due to time constraints.

reception

Timo Niemeier attests to the moderator in his criticism on DWDL.de of the first program: “ Ben does his job well. [...] The old joke: 'These two answers are unfortunately ... correct', he masters without any problems. “He also praises the fact that“ [ZDFneo] did not spoil [...] with the studio, which scores with lots of turquoise and wood optics. “On the other hand, he criticizes that the program is too long, since the end of a duel is rarely the end of the program:“ [...] because the makers had previously decided that 'either - or' will be more than 40 minutes long , it just started all over again. It seems a bit as if the quiz show was originally planned as a half-hour. Especially because the two candidates play against each other for at least 30 minutes and there is actually a natural ending.
