Entwine is a dark rock band from Finland . They publish their albums on Spikefarm Records and Century Media .
history
Entwine was founded in 1995 by Aki Hanttu, Teppo Taipale and Tom Mikkola. At first the band played death metal . Two years later, the band decided to change the style and continue as a dark rock formation. With Panu Willman a second guitarist was engaged. In December 1997 the band recorded their demo Divine Infinity . Two months later, keyboardist Riitta Heikkonen joined the band.
In September 1999, the debut album The Treasures Within Hearts was released . In April 2000, Panu Willman (later with Before the Dawn ) and Teppo Taipale left the band. Joni Miettinen became the new bass player. A month later, Mika Tauriainen, a new singer, joined the band. In April 2001 the second album Gone was released , which was named “Album of the Month” by the German Metal Hammer magazine. The single New Dawn became the band's first Top 10 hit. At the end of the year Jaani Kähkönen became the new live guitarist. A short time later he became a permanent member of the band.
The third album Time of Despair was released in 2002 . Entwine toured Europe with the Theater of Tragedy and Ram-Zet . With the fourth album Dieversity , released in 2004, the band changed their sound a bit. Some dark rock roots have been dropped and the music is harder overall. This direction was also retained on the fifth album Fatal Design , released in 2006. Keyboard player Riitta Heikkonen left the band in December 2006 to have more time for her private life. The band decided not to fill Heikkonen and continue as a quintet.
On January 28th, 2009 the Entwine studio album called Painstained was released.
