Enzo Melandri

Enzo Melandri (born April 14, 1926 in Genoa , † May 25, 1993 in Faenza ) was an Italian philosopher.

biography

In 1958 Melandri graduated from the University of Bologna with a degree in philosophy . From 1958 to 1961 he was a lecturer for Italian at the University of Kiel . From 1962 he was professor of philosophy at various universities in Italy, first at the University of Lecce , from 1963 until his death at the University of Bologna, and from 1972 to 1974 also at the University of Trieste .

Melandri published mainly on topics of theoretical philosophy, logic and phenomenology. He has also translated numerous writings by German-speaking philosophers into Italian and edited them, including those by Bernard Bolzano , Jürgen Habermas , Ernst Hoffmann , Alexius Meinong , Heinrich Scholz and Alfred Schütz .

Melandri's most famous work is La Linea e il Circolo ( Linee and Circle , first 1968, new edition 2004 with its list of publications). It has been described by Giorgio Agamben as one of the most notable philosophical works of the 20th century.
