The Episcopal Diocese of Washington is the diocese of the Episcopal Church of the United States of America , which consists of the District of Columbia and the Maryland Counties of Charles , St. Mary's , Prince George’s and Montgomery . Its main church is the Cathedral Church of Saint Peter and Saint Paul, unofficially known as the Washington National Cathedral , located at the intersection of Massachusetts and Wisconsin Avenues in Washington, DC . The administrative center of the diocese is on Mount Saint Albans.

Mariann Edgar Budde is the current Bishop of Washington and the ninth in the order of the diocese. She is the first woman to take this office.
