Epsilon Island

The Epsilon Island ( English Epsilon Island ; in Argentina Isla Alberti ) is a small island in the Palmer Archipelago west of the Antarctic Peninsula . In the group of the Melchior Islands , it lies between the Alpha Island and the southern end of the Lambda Island .

Participants in the British Discovery Investigations mapped them in 1927 and named them after the Greek letter epsilon in connection with the naming of the other islands in the group . Epsilon Island was surveyed as part of Argentine expeditions in 1942 and 1943. The Argentine name is named after the clergyman Manuel Máximiliano Alberti (1763–1811), an actor in the fight against the British invasions on the Río de la Plata .
