The Zhucheng and Changle earthquake in Shandong in 70 BC Chr. Occurred on 1 June '70. In the area of Zhucheng诸城 and Changle昌乐, Shandong Province , China. The Hanshu reports on this in its 27th chapter ( Wuxingzhi ).
Based on the damage it caused, it was possible to estimate that the earthquake in the epicenter had a strength of ≥ IX on the Mercalli scale . Calculations based on this resulted in a magnitude of ≥ 7.
According to the Hanshu , over 6,000 people are said to have been killed.
