Company portrait

In 1959, the then German mining companies decided to market the then new energy source natural gas. To do this, they founded the company under the name Erdgas-Vertriebs-Gesellschaft mbH .

A pipeline network approx. 1,500 kilometers long is operated to collect the natural gas, which is directly connected to the northern German natural gas fields. This includes mixing and distribution stations as well as a compressor station . The gas, which has very different calorific values depending on the storage facility, is brought together in the pipes via the control center in Münster so that the desired composition and quality is achieved. The natural gas is sold independently or on account for the producers involved.

Erdgas Münster's shareholders are the natural gas producers BEB, Neptune Energy, ExxonMobil, Vermilion and Wintershall Dea.

Subsidiary Nowega

In February 2012, the former part of the company Erdgas Münster Transport GmbH & Co KG was transferred to the 100% subsidiary Nowega GmbH based in Münster. This was set up as an independent transport network operator (UTB) in accordance with the Energy Industry Act. For the unbundling of all required areas in accordance with the legal requirements, Nowega received certification from the Federal Network Agency in November 2012 . As a transmission system operator, the company operates and markets around 700 kilometers of high-pressure gas pipelines and achieved sales of EUR 33 million with 15 employees in 2012. The pipeline network stretches from the Dutch border across Lower Saxony and parts of North Rhine-Westphalia to the Wendland .
