The Nowega GmbH is a German transmission system operator , based in Münster . The company operates and markets around 1,500 kilometers of high-pressure gas pipelines, which are part of the German pipeline network for the transport of natural gas.
The company is a 100% subsidiary of Erdgas Münster GmbH. Nowega is a founding member of the GET H2 initiative, which aims to establish a Germany-wide hydrogen infrastructure.
history
In February 2012 Erdgas Münster Transport GmbH & Co. KG - a previous part of Erdgas Münster GmbH - was transferred to Nowega GmbH. The company was thus set up as an independent transport network operator (UTB) in accordance with the Energy Industry Act (EnWG) . This was made necessary by a new EU legal framework, which mandated the complete unbundling of trade and transport of natural gas . In November 2012, Nowega GmbH was one of the first transmission system operators in Germany to receive certification as a UTB from the Federal Network Agency (BNetzA) for the unbundling of all required areas in accordance with the legal requirements . As a transmission system operator, Nowega GmbH is subject to German and European gas market regulation.
Pipeline network / products
The pipeline network stretches from the Dutch border across Lower Saxony to Wendland and parts of North Rhine-Westphalia. Nowega operates a natural gas conversion plant in Rehden, Diepholz district.
