Eri Utsunomiya ( Japanese 宇 都 宮 絵 莉 , Utsunomiya Eri ; born April 11, 1993 ) is a Japanese hurdler who specializes in the 400 meter distance and also competes in the heptathlon.

Athletic career

Eri Utsunomiya gained her first international experience at the 2015 Asian Championships in Wuhan , where she finished seventh in the heptathlon with 5171 points. Two years later she was fifth at the Asian Championships in Bhubaneswar with 5586 points. The following year she took part in the hurdles at the Asian Games in Jakarta , where she was sixth in 58.97 s. In addition, she finished sixth with the Japanese 4-by-400-meter relay and fifth with the mixed relay. At the beginning of September she reached eighth place in the Athletics Continental Cup in Ostrava in 58.92 s. At the Asian Championships in Doha in 2019 , she finished fourth in 57.38 s.

In 2018 Utsunomiya became the Japanese champion in the 400 meter hurdles. She graduated from Sonoda Women's University in Amagasaki with a degree in childcare .
