Eric Bertrand Alima Atangana is a Cameroonian football player in the position of midfielder .

Career

Eric Alima Atangana, a midfielder, has been playing for the men's team of the Cameroonian first division club Canon Yaoundé since at least 2016 . He finished the 2016 game year with the team in 15th place in the table and barely managed to stay in the league. Atangana has played in the Cameroonian U-23 national team several times this year . As early as November 2016, national coach Hugo Broos included him for the first time in a list of potential candidates from the domestic league for the senior national team of Cameroon and took part in a trial training session lasting just over two weeks with this selection in December. In the following year 2017, the men's team from Canon Yaoundé, trained by the Cameroonian Mme Tenga , was no longer able to hold its own in the country's highest football league and was relegated to the Cameroonian second division as the clear last . Even before that, the young player made the leap to league competitor APEJES Academy , also known as APEJES FC, and from then on played for them. Between March and April 2017 he took the Cameroon Olympic and U-23 team as a member of a 36-member levy on the preparation for the Islamic Solidarity Games of 2017 in part.

At the end of April, the Cameroonian Football Association finally announced the 23-man squad that would take part in the games in Azerbaijan in May 2017 , Atangana being part of this squad. Under the former Germany legionnaire and multiple Cameroonian international Richard Towa , he then played the opening game against host Azerbaijan U-23 . In the further course of the tournament managed the Cameroonian as the winner of the group A in the subsequent semi-finals in which it, however, for a 0: 0 draw after the normal time and the extension penalty shoot with 3: 4 against the U-23 of the Oman lost . In the game for 3rd place, the team then lost to Algeria's U-23 . The midfielder played in all of his country’s games until the second group match against Morocco’s U-23s .

Two months later, it was Rigobert Song , who had coached an amateur selection of the Cameroonian national team (Cameroon A ') since the previous year, consisting of players from the domestic leagues, who brought him into his team in preparation for qualifying for the 2018 African Nations Cup . Of the original 39-man selection, only a 20-person selection, including Atangana, remained around a month later. This then went on the trip to São Tomé and Príncipe for the first qualifying game against the local national team . After a 2-0 win in the first leg, Atangana made his international debut in the second leg in the Cameroon port city of Limbe a week later . The Broos midfielder was given the opportunity to prove himself in the senior national team of his home country at halftime, when he replaced David Eto'o , brother Samuel Eto'o and also debutant in this game. At the beginning of September 2017 Rigobert Song brought him in to prepare for the next qualifying game on the occasion of the African Nations Cup 2018 and two friendly international matches in Team Cameroon A '. So far (as of January 2018) nothing is known about Atangana's further international appearances.
