The Eric Clapton Smoker's Guitar is a Fender- built signature Stratocaster by Eric Clapton that Clapton used during his two-year Journeyman World Tour in 1990 and 1991. In 1999, Clapton auctioned the guitar for a good cause in New York .

As described in Money and Cigarettes , Clapton was left with nothing but money and cigarettes after his alcohol withdrawal . Clapton smoked more often in 1990 and 1991 than at other concerts and stuck a cigarette on the headstock of his Stratocaster with almost every piece . A piece of the headstock burned down like Brownie and Blackie and so Clapton received a signature Stratocaster with a milling in the headstock in 1991 during his tour with George Harrison in Japan, in which Clapton could insert his cigarettes without the headstock burning further. So the guitar was nicknamed The Smoker's Guitar ' The Smoker's Guitar ' .

Clapton told Christie’s in 1999 that the guitar was instrumental in quitting smoking. Lee Dickson, Clapton's technician, mentioned in 1991 that the idea behind the tuxedo version was that people would go to a store and buy Clapton's Stratocaster and if you choose a black one they'd be asked, "Will these guitars smoke or not?" . But there was only one guitar for Clapton. The Smoker's Guitar was never produced again.

Clapton played the guitar during his Journeyman World Tour . The guitar can be seen on the 24 Nights DVD as well as on other concert recordings that have not been officially published.
