Éric Hassli (born May 3, 1981 in Saargemünd ) is a former French football player . He played on the position of the striker and was most recently at Sarreguemines FC under contract.

Career

The first stations

Hassli, who grew up in Lorraine , played for AS Saargemünd until 2000 . At the age of 19 he moved to FC Metz . After almost two and a half years, he moved on loan to the English club Southampton FC . He scored six goals in nine games and returned to Metz after six months.

2003 to 2011: Switzerland and France

After another six months he moved to the Swiss league for Neuchâtel Xamax . Here he could not really take his step and moved to Servette FC Genève . But the club was only half a year later insolvent ; so he came to FC St. Gallen at the beginning of 2005 .

At FC St. Gallen he scored 18 goals in 47 competitive games. Through his appearances, clubs from France became aware of him. He moved to Valenciennes FC in the summer of 2006 .

At FC Valenciennes he had to put up with the reserve role and moved back to Switzerland for FC Zurich a year later . In the 2008/09 season he found his strength again. This season he scored 17 goals in 27 games and became Swiss champions.

2011 to 2015: Hassli in North America

In 2011 he moved at his own request to Major League Soccer , where he was staying at the Canadian club Vancouver Whitecaps . His contract would have expired in the summer, but the FCZ let him go early because of his merits. The 29-year-old Hassli received a four-year contract in Vancouver, where he became a teammate of the former Super League professionals Alain Rochat (formerly FC Zurich) and Davide Chiumiento (formerly FC Luzern).

During the 2012 season he moved to Toronto FC . Hassli got the status of a Designated Player there and could thus be paid outside the salary requirements of the MLS.

On February 4, 2013, he went to FC Dallas . He moved in exchange for another draft at MLS SuperDraft 2014. After a year in Dallas, they separated on by mutual agreement.

Hassli then signed a contract with Scorpions FC in the North American Soccer League .

Since 2015: return to Lorraine

On November 9th, 2015 he moved back to his hometown for Sarreguemines FC . On March 11, 2016, he ended his playing career after just four months.
