Eric Markusen

Eric Markusen (born October 8, 1946 , † January 29, 2007 ) was an American sociologist and professor of sociology and social work at Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall, Minnesota, USA, and research director of the Danish Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies (Dansk Center for Holocaust- og Folkedrabsstudier, DCHF) in Copenhagen . After its integration into the Danish Institute for International Studies (Dansk Institut for Internationale Studier, DIIS) in 2003, he worked there as a Senior Researcher.

Markusen conducted research in the countries of the former Soviet Union, Cambodia, Croatia, Bosnia, Poland, Serbia, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Rwanda and Chad. Later he concentrated on the countries of ex-Yugoslavia and Rwanda. He died of cancer.
