Eric Mayen

Eric Mayen (born November 18, 1953 in Zielona Góra ) is a Polish painter and photographer specializing in panoramic photography .

Life

In 1978 he left communist Poland and emigrated to Germany as a political refugee. Between 1983 and 1988 he studied painting and graphics at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich . He received the diploma in the class of Daniel Spoerri . From 2011–2015 he taught at the University of Bonn . Mayen lives and works in Cologne .

Eric Mayen took part in solo and group exhibitions at home and abroad. Works by him are in public collections, including the National Collection of England - Imperial War Museum in London, the Marienkirche in Gdansk, Archdiocese of Cologne and in private collections, among others. a. the collection of Hedwig Neven DuMont in Cologne. He is the author of the conceptual work niger et aurum (Black and Gold, 1997) - a gold-plated niche in the St. Martin chapel in Gdańsk's Marienkirche. In 2019 the niche became the resting place of Gdańsk President Paweł Adamowicz .
