Hedwig Neven DuMont

Hedwig Neven DuMont b. Princess von Auersperg (born August 9, 1946 in Seekirchen ) is the widow of the Cologne publisher Alfred Neven DuMont, who died in 2015, and is perceived by the public as a socially committed citizen. On August 16, 2020 she was made an honorary citizen of the city of Cologne for her long-term commitment .

Hedwig Neven DuMont is a daughter of Prince Karl von Auersperg and the interpreter Elisabeth von Gutmannsthal-Benvenuti. In 1952, when she was five years old, the parents divorced, whereupon the father married Penelope Gibson, daughter of a British captain of the Guard , in London in 1953 , and the mother married Wilhelm Graf von Magnis in Munich in 1956 . In 1966 Hedwig Neven DuMont married Alfred Neven DuMont in Forsbach near Cologne. She has three children with him. Son Markus Neven DuMont (1967–1995), daughter Isabella Neven DuMont (* 1968) and son Konstantin Neven DuMont (* 1969). Her son Markus studied at the Art Academy for Media Cologne and called himself Spiridon Neven DuMont as an artist in the last years of his life . The Spiridon-Neven-DuMont-Prize donated by the couple Neven DuMont for the promotion of young artists at the Art Academy for Media (KHM) is dedicated to him .

  • Neven DuMont has been the chairman of the “We help” association in Cologne for many years, and of the “We help” association since it was founded in 2001.
  • She is involved, among other things, in the board of trustees of the “Center for Early Intervention and Early Treatment”, as vice chairman of the association for the development of the Cologne Child Protection Association and as patron of the World Children's Day.
  • Your support of the Roma e. V. for the rights of the Roma made (according to Günter Wallraff ) the establishment of the "Amaro Kher" school for Sinti and Roma possible.
  • As the patron of the “Hits fürs Hospiz” association, Neven DuMont supports the hospice movement and thus the loving care of people with life-shortening illnesses in the last phase of their lives
  • During the mayoral election in Cologne in 2015 , she was involved in campaign materials for the non-party candidate Henriette Reker proposed by Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen and supported by several parties .
