Konstantin Neven DuMont (born November 11, 1969 in Bergisch Gladbach ) is a German entrepreneur , manager , publisher and moderator .

Life

Konstantin Neven DuMont is a son of Alfred and Hedwig Neven DuMont , b. Princess of Auersperg. He graduated from the School of Communication and Journalism, University of Oregon in the United States in 1994 . From 1998 to 2008 he was managing director of M. DuMont Schauberg . From 2004 to 2008 he was spokesman for the management of the Cologne division, u. a. ( Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger , Express and Kölnische Rundschau ). From January 2009 to December 2010 he was a member of the board of the M. DuMont Schauberg media group and was responsible for corporate strategy and communication. He was chairman of the journalistic advisory board of Berliner Zeitung , Berliner Kurier and Hamburger Morgenpost , was chairman of the editorial board of the Frankfurter Rundschau and editor of the Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger, the Express and the Mitteldeutsche Zeitung . He also presented the television program Quo vadis Colonia on the Cologne local television station center.tv , in which the publishing house M. DuMont Schauberg is directly involved.

In May 2011, Neven DuMont founded the company KNDM GmbH, which, according to him, should “produce moving images, journalistic content and podcasts”, “that deal with grievances in the areas of politics, justice, media and business and suggest improvements.” The corresponding online Platform applied with the adjectives "critical - sustainable - direct - opinion-forming". On December 21st, 2011, his first independent web portal evidero.de went online. In February 2013 he transferred his shares in the M. DuMont Schauberg media group to his parents. Since then, his parent company, KNDM GmbH, has concentrated increasingly on the real estate industry. The majority of the media portal evidero.de was sold in October 2013.

At the beginning of March 2013, Neven DuMont applied for the position as director of the WDR that had become vacant due to the departure of Monika Piel .

Retirement from the family business M. DuMont Schauberg

On November 9th, 2010 Konstantin Neven DuMont was given an indefinite leave of absence from the supervisory board of the media group M. DuMont Schauberg (chaired by his father). Since November 18, 2010, he is no longer listed as the publisher of the Frankfurter Rundschau . On November 22nd, 2010 he was also dismissed from the M. DuMont Schauberg media group as editor of the Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger , the Express and the Mitteldeutsche Zeitung . The publishing group accused him of having "expressed themselves in a detrimental and business-damaging manner about their own company in public, including in rival newspapers". On December 8, 2010 it was announced that Konstantin Neven DuMont had also been dismissed from the board of the M. DuMont Schauberg publishing group. The inconsistencies are said to have been triggered by articles by Konstantin Neven DuMont and others in the journalist Stefan Niggemeier's weblog . Konstantin Neven DuMont denies this representation. Different journalistic principles were the reason for his resignation as board member and editor. He called for the massive expansion of investigative journalism, but did not enforce it.

According to an agreement with the media group M. DuMont Schauberg, his leave of absence as a member of the Board of Management, which was pronounced in November 2010, was valid until June 30, 2011. As a shareholder, however, he initially remained associated with the media group. At the height of the dispute, Konstantin Neven DuMont had repeatedly publicly called for his shares to be paid out in the event of a forced departure from the family business. He wanted to use the proceeds primarily as start-up capital for his own media company. Konstantin's older sister, Isabella Neven DuMont , has been her successor as a representative of the Neven DuMont family branch on the board of the M. DuMont Schauberg media group since March 1, 2011 . In February 2013 Konstantin Neven DuMont transferred his shares to his parents by mutual agreement.

He volunteers as a member of the supervisory board of the German Press Agency (until June 2011), lay judge of the Cologne Regional and Finance Court, member of the German Press Council , board member of the Friends of Wallraf-Richartz-Museum and Museum Ludwig , board of directors of ASV Cologne and as chairman of the supervisory board of the Carnival Association Goldene Jungs e. V. Cologne. In March 2013, he invested in the training portal azubister.net .
