Eric Fransiscus Charles Niehe (born November 4, 1943 in Amsterdam ) is a former Dutch rower who became a diplomat after his athletic career.

The 1.96 m tall Eric Niehe from Nereus Amsterdam won the bronze medal in the four without helmsman behind the boats from the GDR and the Soviet Union at the 1966 World Championships in Bled together with Maarten Kloosterman , Roelof Luynenburg and Rudolf Stokvis . Two years later, Niehe took the Dutch eighth at the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico City and finished eighth.

Niehe studied law at the Universiteit van Amsterdam and entered the diplomatic service after completing his studies. He was the ambassador of the Netherlands to Ireland and Hungary. From 2003 to 2007 he was ambassador to India. In 2012 Niehe became chairman of the Royal Netherlands Rowing Association (Koninklijke Nederlandsche Roeibond) .

Eric Niehe's younger brother Ivo Niehe was a television presenter and producer.
