Roelof Luynenburg
Roelof "Roel" Johan Luynenburg (born May 23, 1945 in Haarlem ) is a former Dutch rower .
The 2.03 m tall Roelof Luynenburg from Nereus Amsterdam won the bronze medal in the four without a helmsman at the rowing world championships in 1966 together with Maarten Kloosterman , Eric Niehe and Rudolf Stokvis . Two years later, Stokvis and Luynenburg competed at the 1968 Olympic Games in two without a helmsman and achieved sixth place. The greatest success of their athletic careers came at the 1972 Olympic Games when they won the bronze medal behind the two-men from the GDR and Switzerland. In between, Luynenburg had reached fifth place with the Dutch eighth at the European Championships in 1971 .
