Erich G. Henkel

Erich G. Henkel (* 1913 in Frankfurt am Main ; † February 15, 1998 ) was a German shoe manufacturer and art collector.

Life

After working in Belgium, the Netherlands and France, Erich Gustav Henkel joined the global family company Eugen Henkel shoe machine factory in Offenbach am Main . He later founded EG Henkel Maschinenfabriken in Neu-Isenburg .

Henkel committed itself to social reforms for its busy factory workers . He received broad approval and respect for his social commitment and support of the Catholic mission in South America and Asia.

He was appointed a senator by the state of Hesse and was awarded an honorary doctorate. He was honored with the papal order of knights of St. Gregory the Great .

In 1967 he was appointed Knight of the Order of Knights of the Holy Sepulcher by Cardinal Grand Master Eugène Cardinal Tisserant and invested in the Milan Cathedral on December 10, 1967 together with Augustinus Heinrich Henckel von Donnersmarck . Most recently he was a Grand Officer of the Order and Kollar Knight al merito .
