Erich Gumplmaier

Erich Gumplmaier (born July 13, 1947 in Wels ; † December 29, 2015 ) was an Upper Austrian social democratic politician and a member of the Federal Council sent from the federal state of Upper Austria from 2003 to 2009 .

Life

The son of a bricklayer completed a 3½-year apprenticeship as an electrical mechanic after attending primary and secondary school in Marchtrenk.

From 1968 to 1979 he was the youth secretary of the Austrian Federation of Trade Unions in Upper Austria . In 1971 the wedding took place with his wife Maria, née Hinterberger.

After attending the social academy, he became education secretary of the Austrian Federation of Trade Unions in Upper Austria in 1980, passed the vocational matriculation examination in 1981 and began studying at the Johannes Kepler University in Linz . He finished his studies on July 1, 1986 with the academic degree Mag.rer.soc.oec and completed his academic training in 1987 with a doctorate in social and economic sciences.

In 1992, Gumplmaier became State Secretary of the Austrian Federation of Trade Unions of Upper Austria.

He resigned from the Federal Council on October 22, 2009.
