Erich Maaß (born March 1, 1944 in Vienna ) is a former member of the Bundestag ( CDU ).

Life

Maaß was born in Vienna and attended elementary school. Then he went to a two-year commercial school and the higher commercial school. He then attended business school and graduated from high school in 1964. He then began studying business administration at the Georg-August University in Göttingen and received his state examination as a business graduate in 1969. From 1970 to 1971 he was assistant to the personnel director, then head of the department for personnel planning and from 1974 to 1980 head of department for corporate social policy.

Maaß joined the CDU in 1970. In 1974 he became a member of the Association of Executives in the Metal and Electrical Industry. V. and 1978 district chairman of the CDU district association in Wilhelmshaven . From 1972 to 1983 Maaß was a member of the council of Wilhelmshaven and from 1976 to 1981 deputy chairman of the CDU council group. In 1980 he was elected to the German Bundestag, to which he was a member until 2002. From 1986 to 1994 he was deputy research policy spokesman for the CDU / CSU parliamentary group and from 1994 to 1998 chairman of the Lower Saxony state group.
