Erich Schmiedicke

Erich Schmiedicke (born May 13, 1887 in Neustettin ; † 20th century) was a German politician (NSDAP).

After attending elementary school and high school in Neustettin, Schmiedicke was trained as a ship officer on German and English sailing ships.

From 1910 to 1912 Schmiedicke was an officer in the Australian merchant navy . He also attended the Nautical Academy in Sydney, Australia . After his return to Germany, Schmiedicke was a member of the Imperial Navy from 1912 to 1913 . In March 1914, he passed the German helmsman's examination and then belonged to the German merchant navy until the outbreak of war.

From August 2, 1914 until the end of the war in 1918, Schmiedicke took part in the First World War as a lieutenant and first lieutenant in the Mediterranean division and the high command of the German armed forces in Turkey .

From 1919 to 1930 Schmiedicke was an independent businessman in Berlin. At this time he joined the National Socialist German Workers' Party (NSDAP), for which he held the office of Gau managing director in the NSDAP district of Brandenburg from 1931 to 1933.

From March to November 1933 Schmiedicke sat as a member of the NSDAP in the German Reichstag, in which he represented constituency 4 (Potsdam I).

In July 1933 Göring appointed Schmiedicke State Commissioner. The city council of Guben soon elected him mayor of the community, in which he was not only responsible for the city administration, but also for the local NSDAP branches. Schmiedicke was also chairman of the Guben tourist office and chairman of the committee for the organization of the town anniversary. Gauleiter Wilhelm Kube finally appointed him district leader.
