Erich Schneeberger

Erich Schneeberger (born October 9, 1950 in Stuttgart ) is a German merchant from the Sinti ethnic group who has worked for the Association of German Sinti and Roma Bavaria for many years. In 1998 he was elected chairman of the association.

Life

Schneeberger's parents were both survivors of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp . After completing a commercial apprenticeship, he worked as an independent businessman in Nuremberg from 1970 to 1996. From the 1980s onwards, he worked as a volunteer for the Central Council of German Sinti and Roma , after the association was founded in 1988 he worked for the regional association of German Sinti and Roma in Bavaria . On a voluntary basis, he reported on the history of the Sinti and Roma in Germany in lectures at schools and educational institutions and, for example, helped with the production of documents for compensation proceedings for concentration camp survivors. He is a member of the board of trustees of the "Bavarian Memorials Foundation" and a member of the board of the Central Council of German Sinti and Roma.
