Carmen Galin

Carmen Galin (born March 14, 1946 in Iași ; † March 13, 2020 ) was a Romanian actress , musician and radio play speaker . In her homeland she was often compared to Greta Garbo .

biography

Galin studied at the National University of Theater and Film Arts "Ion Luca Caragiale" . Her teachers were Sanda Manu, Ion Cojar, Dinu Negreanu and Mihai Mereuță. In addition to her film career, she played at various Romanian theaters. From 1967 to 1970 these were the youth theater in Piatra Neam 1970, from 1970 to 1975 the national theater “Lucian Blaga” (Teatrul Național Lucian Blaga) in Cluj-Napoca , from 1975 to 1990 “The Little Theater” (Teatrul Mic) in Bucharest and 1990 –1995 the National Theater Bucharest .

After 20 years of marriage to the director Dan Pița , Galin married Dan Schneider in 1995, the first dollar millionaire in Romania after the fall of the Wall , with whom she was married for 18 years until his death in 2013. Then she devoted herself to private charitable projects. Carmen Galin died childless in March 2020 one day before her 74th birthday.
