Erich Triebel (born February 23, 1894 - † October 21, 1971 ) was a German paleontologist and micropalaeontologist .

Triebel was a leading ostracode researcher and was considered a master in the field of optical microphotography of fossils. Triebel was the first director (from 1943) of the micropalaeontology collection at the Senckenberg Museum , which he remained until 1969 when he handed over the management to Heinz Malz . On November 10, 1944, he received the honorary title of "Doctor of Natural Sciences" from the University of Frankfurt am Main for his outstanding research. During his professional career as a scientist, he published many shorthands and a book on his discoveries. Because of this, too, he had contacts all over the world.

Before his time at the Senckenberg Institute, he was a primary school teacher in Moxa / Thuringia and then in Frankfurt am Main. During his time as a primary school teacher, he was doing research on ostracodes in his free time for the University of Frankfurt. His daughter, Brigitte Erika Triebel (married Lauf), was also employed as his assistant as a laboratory technician at the Senckenberg Institute and worked in the profession until his daughter Annette was born in 1963.
