Erich Zieger (forest scientist)

Erich Zieger (born July 23, 1902 in Kleinwaltersdorf ; † July 9, 1960 in Tharandt ) was a German forester and forest scientist.

Life

Zieger studied forest science at the Tharandt Forestry University and became a member of the Corps Hubertia (1923) and Hercynia (1932). After graduating and gaining his doctorate , he headed a private forest administration from 1930 to 1945. After the Second World War he was a research assistant at the German Leather Institute . In 1951 he was appointed to the chair for forest use by the Tharandt University . From 1952 he was director of the Institute for Forest Protection and headed the forest use department in the Institute for Forest Sciences of the Academy of Agricultural Sciences of the GDR .
