Erik A. Frandsen

Erik August Frandsen (born April 20, 1957 in Randers ) is a Danish painter and graphic artist who lives in Brussels.

life and work

Erik A. Frandsen is a self-taught artist . From 1976 to 1979 he studied ceramics in Greece and spent time sculpting in Carrara . In Paris he worked graphically. In 1981 Frandsen moved to Copenhagen. There he founded the artist collective “Værkstedet Værst” together with Christian Lemmerz . Lars Nørgård, Jakob Schokking, Dorte Østergaard Jakobsen, Ane Mette Ruge and Inger Bech Hansen are members of the group. Frandsen was part of the Neue Wilden in the early 1980s .

In addition to numerous exhibitions in renowned museums, Erik A. Frandsen was a participant in documenta IX in Kassel in 1992 . In 2013 Erik A. Frandsen was honored with the Dannebrogorden .
