Erik trolls

Erik Arvidsson Trolle (* 1460, † 1529 or 1530) was from 1487 a member of the Swedish Imperial Council and in 1512 Regent .

Erik Trolle studied at the Universities of Rostock and Cologne. He began his career as a priest and entered politics in 1487. As a member of the Swedish Imperial Council, he first sympathized with King John II and, after his death, with Svante Sture , who waged war against John . When Svante died in 1512, Erik was elected by the council as the new governor and negotiated the Peace of Malmö , but the election was challenged by Sten Sture the Younger . When he won the second ballot, Erik withdrew from active politics and became a judge in Närke and Uppland .

Erik was the father of Gustav Trolle .
