Erika Baum

Erika Baum (born July 20, 1951 in Giessen ) is a German scientist and general practitioner . She has been President of the German Society for General Medicine and Family Medicine (DEGAM) since 2016 .

Life

Baum studied medicine at the University of Giessen from 1970 to 1976 , which was followed by employment as a medical assistant and further training as a general practitioner with an additional qualification in sports medicine until 1982. From 1982 she was a research assistant at the professorship for general medicine in Gießen, before she worked as a substitute professor from 1988 and from 1990 as a full professor for general medicine at the University of Marburg . From 1988 she worked in parallel in a group practice in Biebertal near Gießen. From 2001 to 2016 she headed the department for general medicine, preventive and rehabilitative medicine at the local center for methodology and health research in Marburg. In November 2016, the professor of general medicine was officially retired.

Baum has been a member of the executive committee of the German Society for General Medicine and Family Medicine (DEGAM) since September 24, 2010 ; initially as Vice-President, since September 29, 2016 for a regular term of three years as President. From 2001 to 2010 she was the spokesperson for the Study and University Section. Since January 2012 Erika Baum has been a member of the scientific advisory board of the Enlightenment against Tabak e. V. for smoke prevention at school level by medical students.
