Nathaniel Penistone Davis

Nathaniel Penistone Davis (born May 1, 1895 in Princeton , New Jersey , † 1973 ) was an American diplomat and ambassador of the United States to Costa Rica and Hungary .

Life

Nathaniel Penistone Davis's parents were Marguerite Scobie and John D. Davis. He served in World War I and married Sarah Louise Collins in Washington, DC in 1919 . From 1921 to 1923 he was Vice Consul in Berlin , from 1925 to 1929 he was Vice Consul in Pernambuco and from 1929 to 1934 he was Vice Consul in London . From 1942 to 1943 he was a Japanese prisoner of war in Manila and from 1946 to 1947 he was Embassy Secretary in Manila under Paul McNutt .
