Erika Hirsch (musician)

Erika Hirsch (born March 31, 1924 in Inzersdorf ; † July 24, 1998 in Vienna ) was an Austrian musician and composer .

Erika Hirsch graduated from the Conservatory and the Music Academy in Vienna.

After the Second World War , she worked as an entertainment musician and played with ensembles in various bars of the occupying powers . Later she performed as a solo entertainer with piano, accordion, organ and zither in well-known pubs.

Erika Hirsch performed together with Ingeborg von Streit in a coffee house run by the daughter of the Austrian composer Karl Föderl , whose regular guests included personalities such as Hans Moser and Paul Hörbiger . She also played for a number of years in the famous "Zur Giesl Werner" wine bar.

From 1983 she worked as a sole entertainer in one of the oldest restaurants in Vienna, the Greeks Beisl. With her partner at the time Lea Warden as a guest star, who also wrote most of the texts of her compositions, she published a music cassette with the title “A Viennese Evening in the Greek Pub” at Lesborne-Musikproduktion .

Erika Hirsch was awarded the Golden Vienna Song Plaque by the Alt-Wiener Club .
