Commemorative cross for Bulgaria's independence in 1908
The commemorative cross for Bulgaria's independence in 1908 was donated by Tsar Ferdinand I in the first half of 1909 and could be awarded to all active officers and NCOs in the Bulgarian Army, as well as veterans , mayors and other state employees on the occasion of the announcement of this event .
Appearance
The award is one of bronze -made re-cross with polished edges, on the cross arm ends each can be seen a crown. In the embossed medallion the name of the donor with the inscription Търново 22 Септември 1908 ( Tarnowo September 22, 1908). In the lapel a lion facing upright to the right, the heraldic animal of the kingdom with the surrounding inscription българско Царство (Bulgarian Kingdom).
Carrying method
The cross was carried on a red ribbon with a white central stripe through which a green stripe runs on the left side of the chest. Women decorated the award with the same ribbon as a women's bow.
Awards
The manufacturer Paul Telge made 11,490 crosses, whereby a far larger number of awards can be assumed.
