Commemorative medal for 1906 (Baden)

The commemorative medal for 1906 was awarded by Grand Duke Friedrich I of Baden on the occasion of his golden wedding anniversary on September 20, 1906 to the following group of people:

  • all surviving military personnel who served at the housewarming ceremony in 1856,
  • the entourage of the princes present at the festivities,
  • Members of the military deputations commanded that day ,
  • Envoys from other states as well
  • personalities specially selected by the Grand Duke .

The round medal was made of gilded bronze and shows the right-facing portrait of the founder and his wife Luise Marie Elisabeth of Prussia . In the upper semicircle the inscription FRIEDRICH UND LUISE VON BADEN 1856 · 1906 · . On the back you can see the two inclined coats of arms of Baden (left) and Prussia (right), which are surmounted by a crown. Between the two coats of arms a rose and underneath the dates 1856 - 1906 and the date 20.9.

The award was worn on a yellow ribbon with red stripes on the left chest. The design comes from the medalist Rudolf Mayer (1846–1916).
